Unearthing my Roots: Engaging Canadian Settler:
Colonial Identity in Korean Classrooms
Session 3 on Friday, March 11, from 4:15-4:45PM (PT)
ABSTRACT: When news of 751 unmarked graves of Indigenous children found near my hometown in Canada made global headlines, my South Korean students had questions for me. My efforts to respond truthfully led me to unearth my roots, revealing my settler-Canadian identity’s influence on my language, my teaching and my students.
