Who Is My Neighbor? Peace Linguistics Practices for Healing Polarization

What does loving our neighbour mean amid social polarization shaped by our linguistic choices? Peace linguistics offers insights for Christian English teachers and learners to foster healing and unity across divides. Participants will learn two specific practices they can implement collaboratively with learners to work for depolarization in their contexts.

Cheryl Woelk is co-founder of Collective Joy Consulting, offering communication and conflict resolution training. As an English instructor and peace educator with experience in multicultural settings in Northeast Asia and North America, she researches peace linguistics for English teachers and coaches professionals in South Korea using English in international contexts. She is co-author of “Teaching English for Reconciliation” (2018).
